The Elegy Project invites writers and artists to briefly reflect on elegy, the art of mourning, from any perspective. The texts gathered here explore how elegy works and what it does. These writers help us understand how elegiac art is a way to engage existential, political, ecological, theological, sexual, and other fundamental questions. We believe that elegy is potentially relevant to every aspect of culture and society, and that reflections on elegy are fundamentally reflections on our shared struggle to make livable worlds.
New reflections will be posted as they are available.
